An Australian Gus Kuhn Commando
Click here for the full article in "Performance Streetbike" Magazine.
Malcolm in Australia tells us that his friend has a 1972 ex-Gus Kuhn Norton he is interested in selling as he thinks it would be "right and proper" for this rare machine to go back home (to the UK), though he would probably consider offers from anywhere.

The engine number is listed in Norton's despatch records as: AMA Racer (click here for more info), despatched to Gus Kuhn Motors in August 1973.

The bike was featured in Performance Streetbike magazine. Click here for pdf. Note there are a number of errors in the piece, including mis-spelling of Kuhn!

Though it was an AMA Racer when it started out, somebody has converted it in the past to make it suitable for the public road. Front mudguard is standard production road bike, the carbs are a type that was not on the market in 1973, the fairing is not original, etc.. It is inevitable that bikes get modified over the years. Bits are replaced as necessary from damage, wear and tear or different ideas of 'improvement', depending on what's available (or not) at the time.

If you are interested in this rare and unusual machine, contact us and we will put you in touch with the seller.

[Many thanks to Joe Seifert at Norton Motors Group for additional information about this Commando.]
