Ray Knight was a journalist for Motorcyclist Illustrated magazine. As a successful racer himself, he was able to carry out authoritative race circuit tests on motorcycles

In 1976 Ray Knight took a fourth and sixth place at Snetterton on the GK BMW. He was also entered by Gus Kuhn in the 10 lap production TT to partner Dave Cartwright on a BMW R90/S. Unfortunately, Cartwright wrecked the bike in practice, so Ray rode a Laverda in the race with Mick Hunt, finishing third in the 1,000 class.
