June 2010: We've had an email from another ex-member of staff:
My name is Stephen Matthews and I live in New Zealand. During 1985/1986 as part of my OE I was lucky enough to secure a Job in the parts department of Gus Kuhn BMW reporting to Mike Edwards.
I was a BMW car Parts Manager in NZ and a keen motorcyclist so to obtain a job in the UK with BMW motorcycles was a great experience. Luckily enough Gus Kuhn extended me the opportunity.
At this time the parts department was across the road and I remember being given the task of relocating the parts department back to the main showroom over the road. We had a upstairs and downstairs operation so to move this to one level was a big improvement. Building the counters and installing the panelling was a lot of fun however the final result of workmanship was acceptable - only just.
As the K100 and K75 were just being launched onto the market it is no shock that I still own and ride a 1989 K100RT which is still serving me well.
I currently work for General Motors as the National Parts Operations Manager in NZ looking after 33 dealers and I still ride as often as I can.
Great website and I look forward to hearing from you from down under....
